3. I have never taken an online course before. How does it work?

Our online courses are developed and offered completely through the Internet through an online platform. The online platform is used and maintained by Kaplan Financial in Asia. You can gain access to the platform seven days a week, 24 hours a day, including holidays.

4. How different is the online instruction from the classroom course?

You see on your computer screen exactly what you will visualize on the white screen when you sit in a classroom and you hear the same quality lecture. The online instruction is an archive of our Mar 09 classroom course.

In essence, you receive exam-focused instruction, exam tips and benefit from the perspective of our expert trainer (Dr. David Bruce).

5. What is the advantage of taking an online course?

Convenience is the greatest advantage to taking an online course. Whether you are juggling career, family, and academic obligations, which makes attending Kaplan's live classroom courses difficult, our online course provides the flexibility to learn the LE materials as your schedule permits. Plus you have unlimited review or playback during subscription period.

6. How do I know an online course is for me?

If you can study independently, have good organizational skills, self-motivated, aware of the rigor of the exam and have difficulty committing to a live class schedule, you may find eLearning to be a rewarding and satisfying experience. eLearning is not for everyone. The workload is equivalent to our campus program, but you can schedule those hours at your convenience. The ability to organize time and stay on track is important. We strongly encourage you to try our [
eLearning demo] before you decide to enroll.

11. How much preparation time do I need if I would like to sit the Paper 1 exam in May?

We would suggest that 1 month preparation time should be relatively sufficient to clear 2 exams for a financial market practitioner. Our LE Paper 1 eLearning course is conducted about a 2 week timeframe from the actual exam date. You definitely want to leverage off short-term memory to do this.

Besides, it really depends on how good you are with studying for exams. And when was the last time you seriously studied and attempted an exam? The Hong Kong exam body (HKSI) recommends 81 hours of study time for Paper 1. Most of Kaplan students probably put in a total of 30- 45 study hours inclusive of the 15 hours Kaplan course. (Please refer to the following table)

Preparation time for LE (English).

LE Paper 1
No. of Topics 9
No. of recommended study hours * (by the examination body Hong Kong Securities Institute) 81  (9 hours per topic )
Duration of Kaplan LE review course 15 hours
Notes Most of Kaplan students probably put in a total of 30- 45 study hours.

* The hours vary due to difference in candidate’s experience and background. The no. of hours depends on how good you are with studying for exams. When was the last time you seriously
studied and attempted an exam?
